Introduction
As Chairman of the BMX Playground Association and certified trainer/coach of the KNWU (Royal Dutch Cycling Union) I commit myself to the development of children in all areas of the cycling sport. When I was young, I was a talented BMX-cyclist. That formed the foundation for my current work as Chairman of the BMX Playground Association. I had alot of ambition but was guided pourly. I try to offer this guidance to young people together with my team to fill the gap I felt in the past knowing that my cycling capacities were above avarage. It is so incedibly important that children develop in sports. It will help them in future life. By instructing children about how to handle a bicycle in a responsable way we deliver a contribution to increasing safety in daily traffic. We are working on reaching a goal we can truly be proud of.
The interest of the general public in an indoor bikepark is very big. We offer sports programmes for children who have just learned to ride a bicycle but we also have an added value for professionals in cycling. With the opening of an indoor bikepark in Eindhoven we can prevent that the Dutch National BMX-cycling team has to travel to France regularly for professional training facilities. Other National BMX-cycling teams (like the Belgian National Team) have already shown serious interest in the development of our new indoor bikepark. They was also like to use our facilities and knowledge to improve their possibilities. In other words: BMX Playground Eindhoven is thé initiative in Europe when it comes to growth of the cycling sport.
My responsibilities within the BMX Playground Association
As Chairman I am responsible for the following activities:
- general management for BMX Playground Association
- leading the board of BMX Playground Association
- strategical policy and future planning for BMX Playground Association
- point of contact and spokesman for BMX Playground Association towards the media, city council, schools, business partners, etc.
- writing of educational programmes for cycling agility and traffic safety
Occupational background
I was employed in transport & logistics for over 9 years. For 2 years I worked for the Dutch army, stationed in Germany. I worked for a company called "Van Gent en Loos" in Eindhoven for 3 years and at Philips Special Products in Eindhoven for another 4 years. During these 9 years I filled in several positions like Logistic Assistant, Buyer Investment Goods and Credit Inspector. After my marketing & sports management education I have handled events & sportmarketing at a publishing company in Amsterdam. I'm active as a volunteer for BMX Playground for several years now. At this moment I'm helping tv station Eurosport with the promotion of BMX-cycling.
